I recently read an article from The Huffington Post about being in “The Sweet Spot" of parenting. When everyone’s (partially) independent but still wants to be together. We really experienced that today when we went on a fourteen mile bike ride from Hayburn State Park to Harrison, Id and back. Harrison offered an adult beverage for Trav and me, delicious ice cream for the kids, and a chance for all of us to swim out to a floating dock and jump off the diving board in Coeur d’Alene Lake. The girls rode their bikes, Liam rode in the bike trailer (with a little napping) but most importantly there was no complaining. Except when we told this kids it was really time to get out of the lake.
We are in the sweet spot.
And, I hope it lasts a long, long time.
