Travis and I keep talking about finding an activity we can do with our kids, will be exercise, and will be free (once we buy the equipment anyway). So, on the day after Spokane's record 24 hour snow fall, we headed right to REI. Twelve minutes before REI opened we, along with about 15 other people, began lining up at the front door. And we bought....
SNOWSHOES!
We even got Anna a little pair. Here are some pictures from one of my snowshoeing adventures.
Kamiak Butte. I walked up the hill that's across the highway from our house. This is the view from the top. I am not really sure why they didn't build our house up here-Look at that view! Can you imagine if my dad had ever got to visit us here? We would never see him as he'd be out taking pictures ALL THE TIME!
We had to walk up our driveway one day.

In other news, Trav has been busy with an important home improvement project, refinishing the wood floor. It took just a few days and it looks beautiful!

Since before we were married I have been BEGGING Travis to go skiing with me and it finally paid off! On the first Saturday of the year we went skiing and snowboarding with Katie and Cameron. It was probably one of the coldest day of the year, but it was still great!
Doesn't Trav look excited and happy?? He might be a little nervous. The last time he went snowboarding was in 1997 and he got a concussion! But, he did great on this day and even said he might like to go again sometime.
Cam getting ready to ski. Katie getting ready for a day of snowboarding.
We had a number of days when our road was closed. It was kind of nice to have a few days when we couldn't go anywhere. We spent time just relaxing, reading, and staying warm.

But, as nice as it's been to spend some time at home with just the family, I hope we don't see this sign again soon!
